Ayodele Adio Declares Chairmanship Bid in Eti-Osa, Promises Accountability and Service Delivery

Chairmanship aspirant of the Youth Party (YP) for the July 12, 2025 Local Government Election in Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Ayodele Adio, has formally declared his intention to contest, pledging effective public financial accountability and improved service delivery if elected.

Adio made the declaration on Monday while addressing residents of Eti-Osa, party leaders, and supporters. He expressed confidence not only in securing the party’s ticket but also in emerging victorious in the July 12 election.

The aspirant stated that his campaign and potential administration would be built on two cardinal pillars: effective public financial accountability and efficient public service delivery. According to him, there remains strong hope for Eti-Osa, emphasizing that his decision to run “comes from a place of profound belief in what we can make this community become.”

He highlighted pressing challenges facing the local government, including deteriorating roads, blocked drains, poor waste management, youth unemployment, insecurity, and inadequate care for vulnerable residents.

“For too long, we have been told to manage our expectations — to accept that this is just how things are, and to believe that resources meant for our schools, clinics, security, and environment can simply disappear,” he said.

Adio stressed that the election is not about routine politics but about restoring trust in governance.

“This is about our lives, our children’s future, and whether we can trust that the money collected in our name will actually work for us. I stand before you not with empty promises, but with a firm belief in what is possible when people decide they have had enough of the status quo.”

He then formally announced:

“Today, I announce my candidacy for the Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government Area in the July 2025 elections.”

Commitment to Public Financial Accountability

Addressing his first pillar, Adio described the lack of financial accountability as a significant barrier to development. He pledged to ensure that public funds are spent transparently, prudently, and strictly on projects that directly benefit residents.

“I will open the books. Every naira generated or allocated to Eti-Osa must serve the people — not politicians or contractors. This is not a complicated dream; it is achievable when leadership is accountable to the people, not powerful interests.”

He emphasized that integrity and responsible leadership would be central to his administration.

Focus on Effective Public Service Delivery

On service delivery, Adio promised to prioritize functional governance at the grassroots level. His plans include:

  • Improved and consistent waste collection
  • Functional primary healthcare centres
  • Proactive drainage management to prevent flooding
  • Rehabilitation and maintenance of inner roads
  • Strengthened collaboration with community leaders and security agencies to improve safety

“Effective public service is not a luxury; it is the fundamental duty of local government. It is about competence meeting compassion to deliver tangible results that improve daily life.”

Call for Support

Adio concluded by urging residents to support his candidacy, promising a local government where financial transparency becomes standard practice and public services are delivered consistently and reliably.

“Together, we can build an Eti-Osa where financial transparency is not a slogan but a reality, where public services are not a promise but a guarantee, and where every citizen feels the positive impact of their local government in their everyday lives.”
