Last updated: November 4, 2026

This policy explains how the campaign of Ayodele Adio for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Eti-Osa Constituency II (“the campaign”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information collected through this website. We wrote it to be read, not just to be signed off. If anything is unclear, ask us.

Who is responsible for your information

The data controller is Adio for Eti-Osa Campaign.

Postal address: (address to be published)

Privacy contact: campaign@adioforetiosa.com

We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the General Application and Implementation Directive issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

What we collect

We collect only what we need for the purpose you choose.

When you join the movement

Your full name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, state, local government area or city, and, if you choose to tell us, your community or estate, whether you are registered to vote in Eti-Osa, your occupation, how much time you can give, the ways you would like to help, and what you write in your own words.

Applying tells us that you support this campaign. The law treats political opinions and affiliations as sensitive personal data, and so do we: we ask for your explicit consent, limit who can see it, and never use it for anything you did not agree to.

When you send a message

Your name, email address, an optional phone number, the topic and your message.

When you donate

Donations are processed through GiveWP on this site and a licensed payment provider. We receive your name, email address, the amount and date, the payment reference, and any other details the donation form asks for. Your card or bank details are entered with the payment provider and are never seen or stored by us.

When you ask for campaign updates

Your email address and the fact that you agreed. Updates are only sent if you tick the box asking for them.

When you browse

Essential cookies and similar technologies remember your cookie choices, language and display preference. Optional cookies (for example, YouTube videos) are only used if you allow them. See the Cookie Policy.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. Our forms do not store your IP address: to block spam we keep a one-way, scrambled version of it for one hour only.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • To handle your application and organise volunteers: based on your explicit consent (NDPA sections 25 and 30), because applying reveals your political support.
  • To reply to your message: based on your consent.
  • To process your donation and send a receipt: because it is necessary to complete the donation you asked for, and to meet our legal duties, including electoral and financial record-keeping and reporting.
  • To send campaign updates: based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link or by writing to us.
  • To keep the site secure and stop spam or fraud: based on our legitimate interest in protecting the site and the people who use it.
  • To use optional cookies: based on your consent, given in the cookie banner.

We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who can see it

  • The campaign team. Only authorised members of the team, each with their own account, can see applications and messages.
  • Service providers who work for us, under instructions and confidentiality: our website host, our email delivery provider, our donation payment provider and, only if you allow them, YouTube and any analytics tool listed in the Cookie Policy.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it, for example the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the NDPC, a court or the police acting lawfully.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to other organisations, candidates or political parties for their own use.

Transfers outside Nigeria

Some of our service providers may store or process information on servers outside Nigeria. When that happens we rely on the safeguards allowed by sections 41 to 43 of the NDPA, such as adequate legal protection in the destination country or appropriate contractual protections.

How long we keep it

  • Movement applications: deleted automatically after 24 months, or sooner if you ask.
  • Messages: deleted automatically after 12 months, or sooner if you ask.
  • Donation records: kept for as long as electoral and financial laws require us to keep them.
  • Records of your consent: kept with the information they relate to, so we can show you agreed.
  • Your cookie choices: stored in your browser for 180 days.

How we protect it

The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Applications and messages are stored privately and are visible only to authorised team members. Forms are protected against automated abuse. Old submissions are deleted automatically. If a breach is likely to put your rights at risk, we will report it to the NDPC within 72 hours of becoming aware of it and tell you without undue delay.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you can:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct it, or delete it when it is no longer needed or you withdraw consent;
  • ask us to restrict or stop using it, or object to how we use it, including for updates;
  • ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere;
  • withdraw your consent at any time (this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it;
  • complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).

To use any of these rights, write to campaign@adioforetiosa.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We aim to reply within one month.

Children

This site and its forms are for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when the way we use information changes, and show the new date at the top. If we start using a new tracking or analytics tool, we will update the Cookie Policy and ask for your consent again first.
